How do we achieve peace?

Today I had a pretty uneventful day but while I was making my lunch there was a movie on in the background which sounded pretty good so I went into the sitting room and paused it so I could watch it when I was finished with lunch. The movie was called "That's what I am". It is based in 1965 and is about a student (Andy) who like most students will do anything to avoid conflict and ridicule from his classmates. But then a teacher (Mr. Simon) pairs him off with the schools biggest outcast (Stanley) on an important term project. Over the course of the movie Andy discovers that the teacher had a reason for pairing him with Stanley. Andy learns that Stanley is a brilliant, kind, tolerant and decent human being who has more dignity that anyone he had ever encountered. It's a heart warming tale about overcoming bullies and being who you are rather than trying to adhere to the social norm.

But the one thing that will stand out for me is this wonderful quote. Mr Simon entered a competition to win a car. Each participant had to write in 50 words or less how to achieve peace, Mr Simon did it in 5. "Human Dignity + compassion = peace" I don't know why, but that quote really stuck with me more than anything else that happened in the movie. I am usually quite attentive to movies that are about overcoming adversity and standing up for what you believe in because it is tough to do those things. But after this quote came up I couldn't really focus on the rest of the movie. I was just thinking about how amazing that quote is and how easy it would be for people to be more compassionate and have more dignity. If everyone learned from this quote I think we would be taking a massive step towards peace. I highly recommend this movie. It really makes you think about everything that is happening in the world and your own life. Has anyone else seen this movie? If so what did ye think of it? I would really love to hear peoples opinions on the movie, on how we can achieve peace or even just what they thought of my ramblings.

PEOPLE WHO CHEW WITH THEIR MOUTHS OPEN!
I know I mentioned this in part 1 of things that irritate me, but it is just so GOD damn annoying. There are people out there who do this and I don't know if people know they are doing it. These people manage to chew louder than whatever is in the background. I was watching a movie recently and the person managed to chew much louder than the movie. They were eating chocolate so it SHOULDN'T have made noise. It was so freaking annoying. Also girls that ask there boyfriends to do everything for them when they can do it themselves.

People Who Talk Constantly During Movies.
I don't mind people laughing during comedy films or screaming during horrors or such things like that. But the people I am talking about here are the people who talk constantly as if they have no interest in the movie. They constantly ask questions that only people who have seen the films already could possibly answer. They also comment on absolutely everything that happens in the movie. Then they get lost in the film and have to ask more questions to try and catch up in the film. I was at the cinema with friends and there were people in the screen that were clearly not interested the film, but didn't leave. Then after awhile they took an interest after talking constantly for about an hour and then asked someone to catch them up and ended up distracting them from the movie so they got lost as well. It's not fair on people. If you aren't interested in the film, just get up and leave. It's simple.

Things that irritate me.

So this is just some of the things I could think of that irritate me. I know their are a lot more and will add them as I think of them. I am a bit obsessive compulsive about a lot of things so a lot of these things will probably seem weird to you guys, but they just wreck my head. ARRRGH

Please obey!
People who chew with their mouths open!

I don't know why it does, but there is just something about when people are eating and they chew with their mouth open, it drives me insane. I never say anything, because I am polite and don't want to be rude. When they do it, it seems to make whatever they are eating sound so loud, especially crisps and crunchy stuff. It's just one of those sounds that goes straight through my head and irritates me. I'm sure we all have sounds that do that to us. I can't concentrate on anything I am doing or if I am listening to something when someone is eating with their mouth open.

Empty things been put back in the fridge.

When someone finishes a carton of milk or a packet of butter and puts the damn thing back in the fridge... My God, that drives ME UP THE WALL. Like, why do that? WHY? It's so pointless, you could just go and put them in the bin, it's not that hard. It's one of the times I am glad I live at home, because it is usual my brother that does that so I can just hit him a slap and tell him to stop being a twat. I know, it's silly, but it just wrecks my head sometimes.

Misuse of exclamation marks!
To be honest, I wouldn't call myself a grammar nazi because my grammar a lot of the time is shocking. One of the few things I know about is the use of exclamation marks. It has apparently become accepted in a lot of ares, especially in things like print media, leaflets, posters, etc. These areas pay marketing and advertising “specialists” thousands of Euro and yet they still send out ads and leaflets that have employed the use of the double exclamation mark. “The lowest prices in Galway guaranteed!!”. I have even recently seen the triple exclamation mark, but we wont go into that, because it is just insane.
