Terrible Thursdays

Today was an absolutely fantastic day (Not sure how to portray sarcasm via this blog :-/ ) I went to sleep last night after posting the blog yesterday with a bit of a tickle in my throat and woke up this morning with a full blown cough :( Thought my immune system was pretty strong but I guess that is just the way the cookie crumbles. I'm guessing it is from lying on the ground outside last night for an hour and a half in just my t-shirt and jeans. Kind of regret being one of the patients that was going to be lying on the ground at Civil Defence last night, but it was still an excellent exercise. I just thought we would have been finished faster. Oh well, I'll be grand in a few days.

College day 3

Merciful god the weather here in Galway is all over the place. We get about a week straight of really stormy weather which they clapped as a hurricane and then today it is sunny and warm enough to go around without a jumper. But you still bring it just to be on the safe side, you never know when it might rain again. Dragged myself out of bed this morning and headed into GMIT hoping that they would have work for me after telling me they would. A lot of times though what GMIT says to you and what actually happens are two very different things. The first thing I saw when I walked in the front doors was a first year wandering around with his bicycle helmet still on, the poor lad. Hope he realised he was wearing it before any of his classmates spotted him, they would be mercyless about it and if would never live it down throughout his entire college life.

And just as I suspected they told me they needed me but when I got in they told me they had enough people. That is one of the only things about GMIT that annoys me. They never seem know what they are doing when they organise something and end up letting down the people who are there to help them. I had things to do in town so I took a wander into Galway and pottered around for awhile and did my bits and pieces.
Apparently this represents wandering around town.

Sheer comforts

The effort it took to get out of bed today. My bed was so comfortable and it kept calling me to stay in bed, and I really wasn't in the mood to move and it was so windy and cold outside. I had a few things to do, but thankfully they weren't urgent so they could wait until later or even tomorrow :-)

So today I am looking forward to helping teach first aid in the college again today. Hopefully todays classes are as attentive and well behaved as yesterday :P Ah no, all the students seemed like they wanted to learn and if there were a few that didn't want to be there they didn't disturb the class which was good. It's so cool sitting at the top of the class where my lecturers usually are helping a lecturer teach a class. All the students look at you like you know what you are doing and they show you respect.

We all begin sometime

HELLO, Hello, hello. Is there anybody out there?

So, my name is Brendan, I like to write and I am going to share it with people on the interwebs. I am going to write about things I do, my pet peeves, random things and some of the movies I see.

Today was the start of induction week for first years in my college. I am currently a second year so I was chosen by the college to be a student helper for the few days induction is on. Basically a student helper guides first years to where they have to go at certain times and to bring them to certain classrooms and on tours of the college in separate groups. I was in the sports hall with a few of the student helpers that I knew and we basically had to guide the first years in for their induction speeches from the College President, the student unions President and the Vice President, and their respective course department heads. We also had to make sure that all first years received freshers packs containing a cool 2Gb USB Wristband
