Ok, so it's time for the second installment of Things that irritate me.

GO!

PEOPLE WHO CHEW WITH THEIR MOUTHS OPEN!
I know I mentioned this in part 1 of things that irritate me, but it is just so GOD damn annoying. There are people out there who do this and I don't know if people know they are doing it. These people manage to chew louder than whatever is in the background. I was watching a movie recently and the person managed to chew much louder than the movie. They were eating chocolate so it SHOULDN'T have made noise. It was so freaking annoying. Also girls that ask there boyfriends to do everything for them when they can do it themselves.

People Who Talk Constantly During Movies.
I don't mind people laughing during comedy films or screaming during horrors or such things like that. But the people I am talking about here are the people who talk constantly as if they have no interest in the movie. They constantly ask questions that only people who have seen the films already could possibly answer. They also comment on absolutely everything that happens in the movie. Then they get lost in the film and have to ask more questions to try and catch up in the film. I was at the cinema with friends and there were people in the screen that were clearly not interested the film, but didn't leave. Then after awhile they took an interest after talking constantly for about an hour and then asked someone to catch them up and ended up distracting them from the movie so they got lost as well. It's not fair on people. If you aren't interested in the film, just get up and leave. It's simple.

Things that irritate me.

So this is just some of the things I could think of that irritate me. I know their are a lot more and will add them as I think of them. I am a bit obsessive compulsive about a lot of things so a lot of these things will probably seem weird to you guys, but they just wreck my head. ARRRGH

Please obey!
People who chew with their mouths open!

I don't know why it does, but there is just something about when people are eating and they chew with their mouth open, it drives me insane. I never say anything, because I am polite and don't want to be rude. When they do it, it seems to make whatever they are eating sound so loud, especially crisps and crunchy stuff. It's just one of those sounds that goes straight through my head and irritates me. I'm sure we all have sounds that do that to us. I can't concentrate on anything I am doing or if I am listening to something when someone is eating with their mouth open.

Empty things been put back in the fridge.

When someone finishes a carton of milk or a packet of butter and puts the damn thing back in the fridge... My God, that drives ME UP THE WALL. Like, why do that? WHY? It's so pointless, you could just go and put them in the bin, it's not that hard. It's one of the times I am glad I live at home, because it is usual my brother that does that so I can just hit him a slap and tell him to stop being a twat. I know, it's silly, but it just wrecks my head sometimes.

Misuse of exclamation marks!
To be honest, I wouldn't call myself a grammar nazi because my grammar a lot of the time is shocking. One of the few things I know about is the use of exclamation marks. It has apparently become accepted in a lot of ares, especially in things like print media, leaflets, posters, etc. These areas pay marketing and advertising “specialists” thousands of Euro and yet they still send out ads and leaflets that have employed the use of the double exclamation mark. “The lowest prices in Galway guaranteed!!”. I have even recently seen the triple exclamation mark, but we wont go into that, because it is just insane.

The week of strange weather

Hello there.

Last week I was elected as one of the class reps for my course which means I basically have to do my best to resolve any issues people in my class are having. I also have to attend monthly course board meetings. These are basically meetings where all the lecturers of a particular course, Electronic Engineering in my case, meet once a month and discuss how the course is going and any issues that have come up, the curriculum and ways to improve the course. The reason that me and the other reps in my course have to attend these meetings is because it is the perfect forum for us to raise any issues that keep arising from year to year and try to help find a solution, it also allows us to speak our minds about the teaching styles and ways to improve them if necessary. One of the hardest parts of the meetings is staying awake, I'm sure anyone reading this knows that at board meetings there is always one exceptionally boring person. We are also the go between from the students union to our individual classes. We meet twice a month with the Students union president and discuss upcoming events and issues that classes are having that he can help with. A lot of people think and are mostly right that a class reps main responsibility is to organise class parties. These are a great way for everyone to relax and get absolutely locked on a night out haha.

Freshers Fortnight

Thought since college has finally settled down and I am getting into some kind of a routine I would write a little something. These past two weeks have been a bit all over the place. For one I only just got over the flu I had for two weeks on Thursday. But sure that is life, what can you do.

I have finally started back to college two Mondays ago :-) So glad to be back. It was a waste of a day though, I was in GMIT at 9 o'clock in the morning because they hadn't sent any kind of timetable or information about where or when we had to go to and because we are all brilliant students :P Anyway I went down to the Electronics corridor to find out the timetable and it turns out I didn't bloody need to be in until two o'clock that Afternoon for my Spanish class.

Terrible Thursdays

Today was an absolutely fantastic day (Not sure how to portray sarcasm via this blog :-/ ) I went to sleep last night after posting the blog yesterday with a bit of a tickle in my throat and woke up this morning with a full blown cough :( Thought my immune system was pretty strong but I guess that is just the way the cookie crumbles. I'm guessing it is from lying on the ground outside last night for an hour and a half in just my t-shirt and jeans. Kind of regret being one of the patients that was going to be lying on the ground at Civil Defence last night, but it was still an excellent exercise. I just thought we would have been finished faster. Oh well, I'll be grand in a few days.

College day 3

Merciful god the weather here in Galway is all over the place. We get about a week straight of really stormy weather which they clapped as a hurricane and then today it is sunny and warm enough to go around without a jumper. But you still bring it just to be on the safe side, you never know when it might rain again. Dragged myself out of bed this morning and headed into GMIT hoping that they would have work for me after telling me they would. A lot of times though what GMIT says to you and what actually happens are two very different things. The first thing I saw when I walked in the front doors was a first year wandering around with his bicycle helmet still on, the poor lad. Hope he realised he was wearing it before any of his classmates spotted him, they would be mercyless about it and if would never live it down throughout his entire college life.

And just as I suspected they told me they needed me but when I got in they told me they had enough people. That is one of the only things about GMIT that annoys me. They never seem know what they are doing when they organise something and end up letting down the people who are there to help them. I had things to do in town so I took a wander into Galway and pottered around for awhile and did my bits and pieces.
Apparently this represents wandering around town.

Sheer comforts

The effort it took to get out of bed today. My bed was so comfortable and it kept calling me to stay in bed, and I really wasn't in the mood to move and it was so windy and cold outside. I had a few things to do, but thankfully they weren't urgent so they could wait until later or even tomorrow :-)

So today I am looking forward to helping teach first aid in the college again today. Hopefully todays classes are as attentive and well behaved as yesterday :P Ah no, all the students seemed like they wanted to learn and if there were a few that didn't want to be there they didn't disturb the class which was good. It's so cool sitting at the top of the class where my lecturers usually are helping a lecturer teach a class. All the students look at you like you know what you are doing and they show you respect.

We all begin sometime

HELLO, Hello, hello. Is there anybody out there?

So, my name is Brendan, I like to write and I am going to share it with people on the interwebs. I am going to write about things I do, my pet peeves, random things and some of the movies I see.

Today was the start of induction week for first years in my college. I am currently a second year so I was chosen by the college to be a student helper for the few days induction is on. Basically a student helper guides first years to where they have to go at certain times and to bring them to certain classrooms and on tours of the college in separate groups. I was in the sports hall with a few of the student helpers that I knew and we basically had to guide the first years in for their induction speeches from the College President, the student unions President and the Vice President, and their respective course department heads. We also had to make sure that all first years received freshers packs containing a cool 2Gb USB Wristband
